Learning Tree collects Personal Information based on voluntary consent and typically obtains it directly from the individual. Where allowed by applicable privacy laws, Learning Tree may also access Personal Information without explicit consent, such as to meet legal obligations or fulfill contractual requirements.

The information we collect about you may include your name, job title, organizational details, contact information, payment data (including credit card details), prior educational background and employment history, system records, usage statistics, and approximate geographic data. Where this information constitutes Personal Information, the following provisions will apply.

Shared Content

Certain features of the learning platform and our services allow users to interact with others or share content publicly, such as uploading courses and other materials, asking or answering questions, sending messages to instructors through the chat function, or posting photos or other work. Student Payment Data

If you make purchases, we collect certain data about your purchase (such as your name, billing address, and ZIP code) as necessary to process your order and which may optionally be saved to process future orders. You must provide certain payment and billing data directly to our payment service providers, including your name, credit card information, billing address, and ZIP code. We may also receive limited information, like the fact that you have a new card and the last four digits of that card, from payment service providers to facilitate payments. For security, Learning Tree International does not collect or store sensitive cardholder data, such as full credit card numbers or card authentication data.

If you contact us for support or to report a problem or concern (regardless of whether you have created an account), including through our AI virtual assistant, we collect and store your contact information, messages, and other data about you like your name, email address, location, and any other data you provide or that we collect through automated means (which we cover below). We use this data to respond to you and research your question or concern.

The information provided above is retained by us and linked to your account. Learning Tree International’s use and transfer of data obtained from Google APIs, including uploaded content, will comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Website “Log-File” Information

For each visitor to our web page, our web server automatically recognizes only the Internet (IP) address. It does not recognize your domain or your e-mail address.

Cookies and Data Collection Tools

Our site may pass a "cookie" (a string of information that is sent by a website to be resident on your system's hard drive, and/or temporarily in your computer's memory blocks). The purposes of the cookies we use are to (i) help the site functioning correctly; (ii) to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site; (iii) to enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and personalisation; (iv) to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. We will ask your consent before placing any non-essential cookies on your device (non-essential cookies are those that allow the purposes (ii) to (iv) inclusively). Learning Tree and its service providers, including Google Analytics and third-party advertisers, utilize server log files and automated data collection tools such as cookies, tags, scripts, customized links, device or browser fingerprints, and web beacons (collectively referred to as “Data Collection Tools”) when users access the website, platform, or services. These Data Collection Tools collect certain System Data and Usage Data automatically, as noted in the “General” section above. In some instances, data collected through these tools may be linked with other information gathered, as described in this Privacy Policy.

Utilization of Personal Information

Learning Tree will only use Personal Information for the specific purpose for which you submitted such information, except that Learning Tree may use Personal Information obtained from this site in an anonymized and aggregate form for statistical purposes.

  • Communicate with you about specific jobs, job opportunities or general information about employment opportunities with Learning Tree, in the event you submitted your resume online. Please note additional terms and policies will apply for employment applicants
  • As we, in our sole discretion, otherwise determine to be necessary to ensure the safety or integrity of our users, employees, third parties, the public, or our services
  • Communicate with you about our brands, products, events for other promotional purposes, including co-branded offers, if you have opted to receive such communications. You can opt-out of receiving marketing information at any time either by selecting preferences at the time you provide us with your information, following the unsubscribe links on any marketing sent to you or by calling 1-888-843-8733. Except as provided below, we do not make the e-mail addresses of those who visit our website available to other organizations

Inputs may be processed through generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) features to provide responses to questions or requests; however, Personal Information is not used for training or fine-tuning GenAI models.

Disclosure of Personal Information

Learning Tree considers your Personal Information confidential and does not sell it to others. However, there are limited circumstances that require us to share it with others.

  • Agents and Service Providers: We sometimes employ or contract with other companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf, such as supporting our systems infrastructure, providing recruiting services, marketing data, and supporting our call centers. These parties are under legal and contractual obligations to only use your Personal Information in confidentiality, for purposes related to the services they provide.
  • Business Transfers: If Learning Tree or one of its business units is sold or its assets is/are acquired, Personal Information relevant to the operation sold could be one of the transferred assets.
  • Legal Requirements: Learning Tree may also disclose Personal Information about you in response to (a) requests from local, provincial or federal law enforcement officials; (b) any judicial, administrative or similar proceeding or order, such as subpoena; (c) if required by law; or (d) in special circumstances, such as in response to a physical threat or perceived physical threat to any individual or to enforce the terms of use of this site.
  • Course Partners: If you enroll in or attend a course presented by one of our partners, Learning Tree will send the course partner only relevant information related to the course and your participation, including contact and course information.

To the extent applicable, we have contractual agreements in place with third parties that can access your Personal Information to ensure that your Personal Information is handled in accordance with applicable laws.

Children’s Privacy

Learning Tree does not knowingly collect Personal Information from children who have not reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence without appropriate consent from the minor and/or, when required by applicable laws, their parent/guardian.

International Users Outside of the U.S.

Please note that this site is hosted on our computer servers in the United States. In order to provide the services to you, we must transfer your data to the United States and process it there.

Security

This site has security measures in place designed to help protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the information in our custody or under our control. We use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption to protect data transmissions of Personal Information. To the extent permitted by applicable laws, Learning Tree will not be liable for disclosures of your Personal Information due to errors in transmission or unauthorized acts of third parties. We have undertaken all commercially reasonable efforts to prevent the loss as well as any unauthorized access, use or communication of your Personal information under our control or in our custody, including in our servers; however, Learning Tree cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or any information provided online. Users must accept risks associated with any data transmission, including the risk that their Personal Information may be intercepted in transit.

Retention and Destruction

Learning Tree keeps your Personal Information only as long as needed for its intended purpose, to maintain our relationship, meet legal or regulatory requirements, or until you request its deletion—unless the law prevents early removal. Afterward, your data will be destroyed, deleted, or anonymized. All data is encrypted at rest.

Providing Access to Personal Information

Upon request, Learning Tree shall inform customers of the purposes for which their Personal Information is collected, the means by which such information is collected, as well as their right of access, rectification, and to withdraw consent. Individuals shall be able to challenge the accuracy, completeness and equivocal character of their Personal Information and have it amended as appropriate. These “other” domains (websites) are not controlled by Learning Tree. Your Rights

Depending on applicable laws, where you live and how you interact with our site or our programs, you may be granted certain rights with respect to the Personal Information we hold about you, in addition to those set forth above. For example, you may be entitled to:

  • Right to Know: You have the right to request to know more about the categories and specific pieces of personal information that we have collected about you and access a copy of your personal information
  • Right to Correction: You have the right to update data you provide directly, log your account and update your account at any time.
  • Request the deindexing of your Personal Information.
  • Right to Deletion: You have the right to request deletion of personal information that we have collected about you.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: If you choose to exercise any of your rights, Learning Tree International will treat you like all other users. In other words, there is no penalty for exercising your rights.
  • Right to Opt-Out at any time, if we have collected and processed your Personal Information with your consent, including if you wish to opt-out of email communications. To opt out of phone or mail communications, please send your request via email to dataprotection@learningtree.com. Please allow up to 10 days for Learning Tree to process your request. Withdrawal of your consent will not affect the lawfulness of the processing we carried out prior to your withdrawal, nor the processing of your Personal Information carried out on the basis other than consent.

For your protection, we may require that the request be sent through the email address associated with your account, and we may need to verify you and/or your agent’s identity before fulfilling your request.

Jurisdiction-Specific Rules

European Economic Area (“EEA”) and United Kingdom (“UK”)

If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have the right to request access to your data in a portable format and to request the rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, or object to processing of your personal data. You may use the information in section “Providing Access to Personal Data” to submit your request. Additionally, if you are located in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

Personal data is also processed outside of the UK and the EEA by our Learning Tree International group companies, or our service providers, including to process transactions, facilitate payments, and provide support services as described in section “Providing Access to Personal Data” above. Where we rely on contractual protections, the transfers will be governed by the ICO’s International Data Transfer Agreement or by the EU Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses together with the ICO’s UK Addendum. Data Privacy Framework (for EU/EEA and UK data subjects)

Learning Tree complies with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (EU-U.S. DPF), and the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Learning Tree has certified to the U.S. Department of Commerce that it adheres to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework Principles (EU-U.S. DPF Principles) with regard to the processing of Personal Information received from the European Union in reliance on the EU-U.S. DPF and from the United Kingdom (and Gibraltar) in reliance on the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF. If there is any conflict between the terms in this Privacy Policy and the EU-U.S. DPF Principles, the Principles shall govern. The Federal Trade Commission has jurisdiction over Learning Tree’s compliance with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (EU-U.S. DPF) and the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF.

We are committed to applying the DPF Principles to all Personal Information received from the European Union and UK and Gibraltar. The types of Personal Information collected are described in this Privacy Policy. The purposes for which we collect and use Personal Information are described in section “Utilization of Personal Information” of this Privacy Policy. The type of third parties to whom we disclose Personal Information are described in section “Disclosure of Personal Information” of this Privacy Policy. We remain responsible for any of your Personal Information that is shared under the Onward Transfer Principle with third parties for external processing on our behalf. Additionally, we may be required to disclose Personal Information in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements. In compliance with the EU-U.S. DPF and the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF, Learning Tree commits to resolve DPF Principles-related complaints about our collection and use of your Personal Information.
