Members of the Board and C-Suite Have New Tools to Help Reduce Cyber Security Risk

Herndon, VA., April 13, 2016
Learning Tree International (OTCQX: LTRE), a leading provider of IT and management training to business and government organizations worldwide, has launched a new course that covers cyber security from the perspective of senior executives and members of the board.

Cyber Security Training for the Boardroom and C-Suite »

“This course not only provides executives an understanding of their responsibilities, but also provides them practical tools that can be used to help implement an effective cyber security risk management process, or to evaluate the maturity of an organization’s existing process,” said Richard Spires, CEO of Learning Tree. “Though it covers a highly technical subject, this course is oriented for non-technical executives that still must make key decisions regarding the largest threat most organizations face today – a massive cyber security breach.”

In 2015, data breaches cost companies $3.8 million on average, which is an increase from 2014, according to a Ponemon Institute study. The study also concluded that the per-record cost of a data breach increased by 12 percent, reaching $154 per-record. As risk, significant loss, and reputational harm increase with the threat of data breaches, senior executives are looking for proactive measures that will equip them with informed and relevant strategies to properly secure their organization’s data.

This course prepares members of the board and the C-Suite to understand, assess, and take a proactive posture in security through:

  • Effectively positioning their organizations to address cyber security threats
  • Supporting cyber security planning with management frameworks
  • The use of governance policy and cyber insurance to minimize risk

“Cyber security has become a standing operational concern with our entire management team,” said Jon Mattei, President & Chief Executive Officer at Conexus Partners, who attended the course in March 2016. “I highly recommend this course to executives and board members who are coming to grips with the exposure to their organization and are evaluating partners who can provide a navigational roadmap on how to address cyber security threats.”

Developed and designed by Learning Tree CEO Richard Spires and Learning Tree CSO Greg Adams, the course pulls from Richard’s extensive background as the former Chief Information Officer at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, as well as positions held in the private sector. Greg Adams is a subject matter expert in cyber security, seasoned instructor, and course author with a focus on the obstacles and solutions for board members and the C-Suite.

Courses begin April 2016 at select Learning Tree education centers. The course runtime is 3 hours. To register for this course, please visit https://www.learningtree.com/courses/2050.
